Historical sample wheel tracker
Educational walkthrough of a multi-year options-wheel worksheet export covering roughly 2021–2025. Presented as a historical sample tracker — not verified personal performance, not a live book, and not a recommendation.
What the sample covers
- Horizon: dated rows span about 2021–2025, with cash-secured puts, covered calls, early closes, rolls, expirations, assignments and still-open rows.
- Statuses seen in the sheet: Open, Closed, Expired, Assigned, Rolled, Option Closed.
- Worksheet header: “Assume $10,000,000 Fund Start.” The sheet header is a hypothetical sizing assumption for the worksheet. It is not a performance claim and is not shown as an account result.
- Two useful panes: option rows (open / premium / status / credit / debit / days held) and a stock-assignment table (shares, cost, basis, option premiums, called date, closing price, MTM P&L).
Tracker-data methodology
- Many rows show spreadsheet errors (#VALUE!, #REF!, #N/A).
- Stock-assignment rows sometimes omit Called Date and Closing Price.
- Current Px in this export tracks an underlying / mark field — do not treat it as option premium.
- Some option rows have impossible date relationships (expiration before open; negative days held).
- Column alignment in the PDF export is imperfect; only clearly labeled, cross-checked values are used on Wheelable.
- When a stock-table “Option Premiums” total disagrees with the clearly Assigned put profit by exactly the amount of a broken call row, we keep the put profit for math and flag the call as inconsistent.
- Expiry, early close, roll and assignment are different endings. Mixing them without reading status + dates produces fake “complete cycles.”
LEN partial sample: put → assignment
Partial sample: put → assignment; later call records incomplete. Later covered-call / share-sale records are incomplete or inconsistent, so this page stops where the data stops.
Assignment row (as recorded)
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Date assigned | 6/18/2021 |
| Shares | 4,000 |
| Cost / share | $100.00 |
| Basis | $400,000.00 |
| Option premiums (stock-table cell) | $12,708.00 |
| MTM / stock P&L cell | $70,600.00 |
| Called date | missing |
| Closing price | missing |
Stock table lists Option Premiums $12,708. That is $108 above the Assigned put profit of $12,600 and matches the inconsistent call row's $108 — so put-phase math uses $12,600 only. Called Date and Closing Price are blank in the stock table for LEN. The $70,600.00 stock P&L figure is shown only as a recorded cell — without a called date and closing price it is not enough to close a full wheel cycle on this page.
Supported put-phase math (only)
Put return on assignment basis = $12,600.00 ÷ $400,000.00 = 3.15% over 70 days.
Simple annualized (non-compounding, put premium only) ≈ 3.15% × 365 ÷ 70 ≈ 16.43%.
Non-compounding: 3.15% × 365 ÷ 70 ≈ 16.43%. Put-premium phase only; does not include stock MTM/P&L or later calls.
Intentionally not computed from this sample:
- No invented LEN share sale / call-away date
- No complete full-cycle profit
- No full-cycle ROC including stock
- Inconsistent $108 call profit not added
Inconsistent call row (omitted from cycle math)
The tracker also shows a LEN call opened 6/18/2021 with expiration 5/21/2021, strike $24.00, qty 3, premium $0.46, closing cost $0.10, profit $108.00, days held -28.
Why it’s omitted: Expiration is before the open date and days held is negative. Record kept only as a data-quality example; omitted from cycle analysis.
How to read statuses in any wheel ledger
- Expired — option reached expiration worthless (or nearly); keep net premium.
- Closed / early close — bought back before expiration; subtract the closing debit.
- Rolled — closed and reopened (often same day) into a new strike/expiry; measure both legs.
- Assigned — short put became long stock (or short call became a stock sale). Start tracking share basis separately.
- Open — cycle not finished; do not annualize an unfinished stock position as a completed win.
Compare with the complete AAPL historical sample ledger, where share sales at recorded prices are present. LEN here is the opposite lesson: stop when fields are missing.
Historical sample trade. Prices and dates as recorded; illustrative, not independently audited. Educational only — not verified personal performance, not a recommendation, and not a claim that any order would have filled at these prices.
